Making Sense of Models

The first step in choosing your new ukulele is determining which size is right for you.  Our blog post on ukulele sizes can help you.  Once you know your size you can move on to choosing a model.  All of our ukulele models include standard features like bone nut and saddle, precise, open-back tuners and included gig bag.  Below are the key differences in our models.

Honu - Our Honu series is perfect for the beginner.  The all laminate sapele construction provides a full, bright tone and the laminate construction means it is durable and less susceptible to humidity changes.  Aesthetically, it is fairly simple.

Mano - The Mano series is our first solid top model.  All mahogany construction with a solid mahogany top provides a warmer tone and extra volume from the Honu.  The Mano also adds maple binding and rosette, gold tuners and hardware, and dual gold strap pins installed.

Kohala Deluxe - The Kohala has all of the aesthetic upgrades of the Mano, including the solid top, maple binding, gold tuner and dual gold strap pins, but is built with acacia wood instead of mahogany.  Acacia is revered for its full tone and beautiful appearance.  To accent the unique patterns found on acacia, we have added an abalone style rosette and purfling around the body.

You can read more about the tonal qualities of each wood species in our blog about tonewoods.
