Soprano -Soprano is the smallest of the four ukulele body sizes and is the traditional ukulele size. The Honu Soprano is perfect for kids learning ukulele or for adults who prefer the brighter tone of a traditional ukulele.
Concert -Concert ukuleles are currently the most popular ukulele body size worldwide. Bigger than a soprano but smaller than a tenor, a concert uke is the perfect middle ground for most players. This size is suitable for all ages, though small children may be better suited to a soprano.
Tenor -Tenor ukuleles are exploding in popularity thanks to the full, deep sound produced by their larger body size. Bigger than the concert, the tenor is great for teenagers and adults that are looking for the most volume from their ukulele and extra space for their fingers on the fretboard.
Baritone -As the name suggests, a baritone ukulele is the largest and deepest sounding of all of the ukulele sizes. Usually tuned like the highest four strings of a guitar (DGBE), rather than the GCEA tuning found on most ukes, a baritone is great if you have a background in guitar because you won't have to learn any new chord shapes. They are also very fun if you are a ukulele player looking to experiment with a different tone.
Perfect for anyone wanting to dip their toe into the ukulele water, our Honu series was designed to provide as much instrument as we could at an entry level price. The all sapele construction provides a warm tone, similar to that of mahogany, but the Honu is more durable and less susceptible to humidity and temperature changes than our solid top models, the Mano and Kohala. As with all Honolua Ukuleles, it includes premium features designed to produce the best tone possible at an affordable price, including bone nut and saddle for better clarity and sustain, open back machine heads for tuning precision and eco-friendly wood selections.
Honu Series
Our Honu Series is perfect for the beginner ukulele player. The all-laminate sapele construction provides a full, bright tone and the laminate construction means it is durable and less susceptible to humidity changes. Aesthetically, it’s fairly simple, but it never compromises on sound quality.

I'm not able to play guitar anymore. Arthritis is not my friend. My brother suggested a baritone uke. It's exactly what i needed. It's a beautifully made instrument and the baritone is perfect if you are missing playing guitar. The deeper tone is quite satisfying. Honolua also plants 5 trees when you buy one and they are Canadian. That went a long way in choosing where I was going to make my purchase.
I decided that I loved playing my soprano ukulele and wanted it up the size to tenor. Got the “Mano Solid Top.” Then got introduced to the baritone and had to get one. Honolua “Kohala Deluxe Solid Top Baritone was my choice. Have been playing mostly the baritone lately and love camping but didn’t want to take the Kohala with me so now I have a Honu Baritone to take along on my camping trips which even has a rv trailer strap attached to it. Dave the owner is wonderful to work with, he is quick to respond to any questions or concerns that you have. The ukulele’s arrive quickly and are well packed. Easy to tune and they sound great. So happy to support a small Canadian company too!
The Honu Baritone Ukulele is great for newcomers to the ukulele like me. The built-in tuner is really handy, the sound quality is really warm and pleasant, and the build quality is good. I've had mine for around two weeks and am really enjoying playing it. Delivery was really quick, and the freebies (gig bag, e-book, and stickers) are really cool. Definitely recommend.
I’ve had my baritone uke for a few days now, and it sounds amazing! It’s comfortable to hold and very pretty. I play guitar, but I was looking for something I could use anywhere, and this is perfect for it. I even let some other people play it, and they were pleasantly surprised by the tone :) I recommend getting a strap for this uke, especially since it’s the biggest one. Makes it more stable if you’re quickly changing chords. Good value for the price: I like that even though there’s no binding, the edges of the wood panels on the top and bottom create a kind of border, and the back is curved for more resonance (which I hadn’t realized until I got it!)
Thank you for the uke! Can’t wait to keep playing.
