This is a Kohola Deluxe through and through: a solid acacia top, with the same build and finish as the rest of the series, made into a ukulele bass. It's tuned like a bass guitar and it sounds like one, real low end from something you can carry in one hand, and the solid top is a big part of why that low end comes out warm and round rather than boxy.
It's built to be heard through an amp, so it gets the Fishman Kula, an upgrade over the standard pickup and about as well regarded as ukulele pickups get. It carries the low notes cleanly, and there's a tuner built in.
If you already play bass, it's the one that comes on holiday. If you play ukulele, it's a whole new role in the group, holding down the bottom while everyone else strums. The tuning is new, but you're playing one note at a time, so it comes quicker than you'd think.
Every ukulele ships free anywhere in Canada or to the U.S., with no customs duty or tariffs, and nothing due on delivery.
You get 30 days with it in your hands. If your ears disagree, send it back. If it arrives with anything wrong, we fix or replace it and cover the cost. Shipping policy · Return policy
The four things doing the work on this one.
We inspect it, play it, and adjust it in Calgary first. If anything’s off, it doesn’t ship.
Give it a quick tune when it lands and it holds.
If your ears disagree, send it back. Anything wrong on arrival, we fix or replace it, on us.

What people ask before they order.
It can be, but go in with open eyes. This one is a bass, tuned exactly like a bass guitar, so the free Starter Course doesn’t fit it. If you already play bass or guitar, you’ll find your way around it quickly. If you’re starting from zero with no guitar background, email me before you order and I’ll tell you honestly whether this is the right first instrument.
Yes. Every one comes through Calgary to be inspected, played, and adjusted before it ships. Give it a quick tune when it lands, like any stringed instrument, and it holds.

The Meet Your Match quiz asks a few questions and lands on a size and model, with 10% off your first order. The buyer’s guide explains the choice if you’d rather read first. And Dave answers his own email, usually the same day.
Designed in Calgary, built to our spec by our partner factory overseas, and every one comes back through Calgary before it ships to you.
The ukulele bass and the guitalele are tuned differently, so the free Starter Course won’t fit them. Email Dave and he’ll point you at what will.
