Soprano - Soprano is the smallest of the four ukulele sizes, and the traditional one. It's the pick for kids learning ukulele, and for adults who like the brighter tone of a traditional ukulele.
Concert - Bigger than a soprano and smaller than a tenor, the concert is the size most people are happiest on: roomy enough for adult hands, small enough to feel friendly. Small children may be better suited to a soprano.
Tenor - The tenor is the biggest of the standard sizes, and its larger body gives a fuller, deeper sound. It suits teenagers and adults who want the most volume and extra room for their fingers on the fretboard.
Baritone - The baritone is the largest and deepest-sounding ukulele. It's tuned like the four thinnest strings of a guitar, so if you've played guitar you won't have to learn any new chord shapes. It's also a lot of fun for a ukulele player looking for a different tone.
Nalu means waves, and the name runs right down the neck: wave inlays along the fretboard and a matching rosette, both in a mother-of-pearl-style finish that catches the light every time you move.
Underneath, it's solid acacia top, back and sides, so the whole body vibrates when you strum, not just the top. That's where the richness comes from: a full, complex voice with everything the wood has to give coming through, and it keeps opening up the more you play it. It's also why there's no arched back. It doesn't need one, and you couldn't give it one anyway — bend solid wood that far and it cracks.
It's built for long sessions. A contoured armrest rounds off the edge where your strumming arm sits, so an hour in it's still comfortable.
The acoustic-electric has a Fishman Kula pickup, about as well regarded as pickups get, with a tuner built in. Plugged in, it still sounds like a Nalu rather than like a pickup.
